Biography

Big Cynthia whose birth name is Cynthia Walker was born October 5, 1969 to Junior and Gloria Walker. The name Junior Walker was known in every household that is a fan of the Motown era. So as a child, Big Cynthia had the Blues running through her veins. At the age of 16, Big Cynthia landed a gig with one of Houston's local bands. Back then, the pay wasn't much but, it wasn't the money Cynthia was concerned with. It was the love of pleasing the crowd and that she did very well. From that point, Cynthia was chosen to become an opening act for the likes of: Johnny Taylor Marvin Sease Tyrone Davis Lattimore Mel Waiters Bobby Bland Betty Wright Denise LaSalle Peggy Scott-Adams Shirley Brown Millie Jackson Pat Brown In 1996, Cynthia was signed to Avanti Records by CEO Johnny Vincent and in 1997 her first CD was released nationally and this took Cynthia all over the world "Baby I'm The Real Thing" in 1998. Cynthia then joined the world wide talents of Mel Waiters and traveled all over the country and was signed to a recording contract, in 1999 with Mel Waiters. This was a big break for Cynthia. Between traveling and recording, Cynthia and Mel put their heads together and recorded a song that was written by Cynthia entitled, "Ain't Nothing Like A Big Woman". This song was written for all the big women all around the world. Cynthia being a big woman knows what it feels like and wrote this song to uplift big women. This song was already a hit, which was released in February 2002. Big Cynthia is a household name that everyone is talking about. Big Cynthia's next CD was released April 2004 entitled "You Didn’t Take My Man, You Took My Problem" which put her #12 of the top 25 Blues Artists. She continued to be with Mel Waiters (Brittney Records) for the Next 4 years until Big Cynthia went on her knees and asked God to send her to higher heights so she could do it big. One month later she received a call from Tony Mercedes of Tony Mercedes Records who told her that Mr. David told him, that I was the next Bad Girl of Southern Soul. Two weeks later she was flying to Atlanta, Georgia to sign and record her new CD entitled "Doing It Big" which was completed in 9 days, featuring Mr. David. While in that transition, Malaco Records offered a 2 year distribution deal and the new CD was released June 22, 2005. 2005 is Big Cynthia's time to shine and God is behind her 100%. Keep watching the Soul and Blues, The Boogie Report and The Chittlin Circuit and see Big Cynthia grow through Christ, because "I'm gonna make it do what it do baby" Website: http://www.bigcynthia.com/tour.html Discography: Baby I'm The Real Thing Ain’t Nothing Like A Big Woman You Didn’t Take My Man, You Took My problem Doing It Big
